It’s been a while since I’ve had a blog entry but I’ve been busy. You know, the usual happens like work, school, birthdays, and OB/Gyn conferences. Every now and then I get blessed to attend the many conferences my company has to attend throughout the state. Most of them are fun. I’ve met so many people over the 11 years I’ve been in this industry that you usually see someone you know. And if not, you’ll always meet someone new. This conference though was special. About 300 OB/Gyns all together in one area talking about the changing medical environment and vulvas. I mean, you can’t get more detailed about this. Well, you can, but it’s not polite to put it in writing.

So, two things have happened here at this convention. First, we have to sit across from this:

Weird?

Yep, it’s pretty crazy. Shaunna (co-worker) didn’t even realize it was there until I asked if we were going to have to stare at that vagina all day. And, Jacob commented that it looked like a gas pump.  (In case you’re wondering, the device does an ablation of the uterus to remove the lining and basically stop periods. It’s what many women are turning to avoid having a hysterectomy in their pre-menopausal state.)

Another incident that happened at this convention was when I misspoke about my skirt.  If you look at the the picture above again you will see that the table has a table cloth and skirt underneath it.  All of our display tables look like this.  A sweet, old (70ish) man said that he was looking for a trash can.  I said, “Hear, give your trash to me and I’ll put it under my skirt.”  As the words came out of my mouth I remembered I was also wearing a skirt that day.  The man turned and looked at me and said, “Excuse me?”  I quickly apologized stating that I meant my table skirt, not my actual skirt.  He just looked at me said, “Honey? Hearing things like that is just a normal days work in an OB’s world.”

HAHAHAHA!!

The Limited…and I do mean clothes!

Standard

I haven’t been to The Limited in forever and a day!  I keep getting their emails about sales but nothing caught my eye to drive all the way to the mall.  Plus, the last time I looked around, it didn’t seem to have the same quality as they did a few years back.  Boy, was I wrong!!  I got an email from them stating that they were having a sale and if you bought a jacket, pant, dress, or skirt you get the second (lesser or equal value) for free!  (They also have a sale for buy a top and get the second 1/2 off.) Well, I need a new suit and this sounded like a steal.  So, I grabbed my coworker, Linda, and we headed to the mall at lunch.  I tried on a few items and nothing worked but before I gave up I found a cute dress.  Tried it on and it fit.  I grabbed a tweed skirt and voila, I have my free item.  After much time debating with myself (insert dirty joke here) I also bought a black/grey suit (see all pics below) and paid for the jacket and got the pants FREE!!   Four pieces, normally $400, for $250!  AND! They gave me $25 off coupons when you spend $50 to use next week, and I got 4 coupons!  I can grab another suit and get $100 off!  (Sorry, honey!)

So, here’s where The Limited really made it amazing to shop there.  I wore the dress the very next day to business meetings in Dallas.  I put it on and it looked good.  But, as the day got started, I kept feeling that the dress was a bit big.  I mean, I did have to put a cami underneath it to hide my bra.  When lunch time came I made a few calls to the local Limited stores.  The first store at North Park Mall was super helpful.  Ricky, the manager, said I could come in and exchange the dress I was wearing but they didn’t have the size I was looking for.  Then, I called The Limited at the Galleria and spoke to a manager, Natalie.  I told her my dilemma and she was on it.  She found my size and said come on in!  I said, “My name is Rebecca, I have red hair, and I’m wearing the dress I’m about to exchange.”  Confession time or what?!

When I got to the Galleria, I stopped in the bathroom first before going to the store.  I had one last glance at the dress and there are deodorant stains.  Not bad, but now I’m a bit embarrassed.  F*** it!!  I’m a customer, Natalie already said okay, and when are there NOT deodorant stains on a shirt or dress you try on in the store?

I found Natalie, showed her the stains, and she said that was fine!  I tried on the smaller size and it fit sooo much better (and now minus deodorant stains).  Natalie fixed me up and I was on my way.  What amazing customer service!!!

So, now all I have to do is return the suit I bought because I already have a jacket just like it!  Maybe I’ll go blue!  Maybe brown!

The sale ends either Saturday or Sunday so ladies get on it if you’re looking for a new piece.

And the firsts…

Standard

So yesterday I had a ton of new firsts in my life.  I started my first blog and wrote my first entry, I played my first fantasy football game in my first fantasy football league, and I got my first body scan at the airport.  With all the travelling I do, it’s surprising that I haven’t been scanned before but luckily, I don’t fly to airports that have scanners. Another first? You stand in the scanner and put your hands, fingers pointed upward and out, on top of your head.  It could be your impersonation of a moose or practicing your “nanny-nanny-boo-boo” wave.  After it was over I didn’t feel as violated as I thought but I didn’t see the picture of me.  It’s probably for the best.  I considered asking for a copy of the scan.  I could make it my new blog picture!!
